Lunar eclipse

The 21st of December is a very special day and one that does not happen very often. It is a lunar eclipse, full moon and winter solace the longest night of the year. The nights are now getting shorter, and slowly summer is returning to us.

I just want to run around and do as many things as possible, as I am always short of time, but now, I have realised that I have to take my time, be slow and steady. I watch the other people in the yard working on their boats, and notice no one running around like a mad chicken.....only me!!

The mast is out, and the rigging is getting done, I thought about getting a Christmas tree to stick in the hole where the mast goes, but its been raining too much, so cross that idea off!

Enjoy this special night, and take a look at the night sky.

Oprah is visiting Australia, she is doing two shows in the opera house, with lots of inspirational Australian people. She even went sailing on Sydney harbour with Russell Crowe, wearing a rabbitos hat, (local footy team)

Also Jeanne Socrates, who left in October on a Solo Non Stop Circumnavigation of the planet, is enjoying blue sky and sunshine with 3000 miles to go till the Horn. Go for it Jeanne!! Check out her website.

Imagine not going

Imagine not going...imagine later in life wondering what it would have been like.  That thought alone, scares me enough to go.  How could I not try?

We were put on this Earth to be as amazing as possible.  Not to just meekly go thru life in a mediocre way.  We are here to love and to help each other and to care for our environment...

Yet why. whenever someone steps out to do an amazing thing, people ie 'the dream killers' try to drag them down?  Is it because it reminds them of their life, and all the dreams they have put on the back burner - thinking they were not possible?

Every day is a new day.  To start a fresh, no matter what our past is.  Every day is a 'New You':  The start of 'ANYTHING', if you can Imagine it, then you can have it.

I know I am quoting many wonderful writers, not out of plagiarism, but because it is true.  And has been written perfectly by someone else.

Winter Wonder Land.

I awoke in the morning to look outside and the world had turned white on me......was this some dream? No the heavens had opened up and covered everything in soft white powder. A winter wonderland had landed on the dock and boat.....when you imagine a boat you think of aqua blue water, tropical breezes, palm trees and local island girls beckoning you ashore. So to see a boat covered in snow is a shock to the system.

Its beautiful to see the world covered in pure white snow. Especially when you have been living in the tropics for years. I have embraced the winter, it is rejuvenating, time to gather all your energy and forces, to be prepared for the next stage.

Slowly I gather my self together to get ready for the start of my next journey. I hope to encourage people to look after our oceans and all that lives in it. To stand up and say NO to all the governments and organisations that devour and rape our seas.

Proud Boat Owner!

The clock turns, and I hit the big 30 this week. I still feel like I'm 21. But the best present I have EVER had, I got this year, my boat!!! Finally the new ISIS emerges like a Phoenix from the ashes, bigger, stronger, anew.

She is a Pearson 10m (33 feet) designed by Bill Shaw who studied under Sparkmen and Stephens. Built on the east coast of the US, she is strong, fast and comfortable.

For the last 6 months I have been searching for a boat. I found many but they kept falling through my fingers. At the time I was so frustrated and angry, all I wanted was to buy a boat, why wont someone sell me there boat!

Well the perfect boat came along when the time was right, so here I sit in the beautiful  San Fransisco bay area, getting her ready to be a ocean going girl.

Here is a website with more information about the Pearson 10M.

Also visited Seattle and the pacific north west area, WOW, it blows my mind away the natural beauty, the artist, musicians, boat builders, the food the free spirits that roam this area make it a very special place, even if it is 4 degrees and about to snow!

25 days latter

Hawaii to L.A, total of 25 days at sea, normally doesnt take that long, but it was late in season. It was heart breaking to see all the rubbish and fishing nets in the sea. People talk about the rubbbish tip in the north pacific high, but I have never seen it until this trip. There was plastic junk, bottles, pipes, fishing nets, hard hats, floating out there. Some days every time you looked at the sea, there was plastic junk floating past. Very sad to see.

About 250 miles from land we had a visit from a owl. He was way of track and rested on the boat for a day then flew off, I hope he made it back to land.
In the bottom picutre is the first Korean to sail solo around the world and an ex youngest round the world, they both went around at the same time and swapped books under the moon light out at sea.
